Professional Projector: The VPL-PHZ51 professional projector combines Sony's Z-Phosphor laser light source with Sony's BrightEra 3LCD system for high brightness and accurate color making it a reliable option for a wide range of corporate, education, museum, entertainment, and simulation applications.

• Z-Phosphor Laser Light Source: The VPL-PHZ51 projector employs Sony's Z-Phosphor laser light source. Not only is the Z-Phosphor laser light source exceptional bright (5300 lumens), it is also extremely durable, delivering up to 20,000 hours of operation (actual hours will vary depending on environment and operating conditions). Sony's Z-Phosphor laser light source system uses a blue laser to excite a phosphor that glows white and is incredibly stable for remarkably consistent projected images on the big screen. The laser light source is sealed to prevent dust accumulation and eliminate reduced brightness.
• BrightEra 3LCD System: Sony matched its Z-Phosphor laser light source to their 3rd-generation BrightEra 3LCD panels. Thanks to proprietary advances like a refined inorganic alignment layer and improved liquid crystal chemistry, you get exceptionally long operating life without screen burn or color fading. And unlike single-chip projectors, Sony's 3LCD configuration uses one panel each for Red, Green and Blue - so you get exceptionally bright, accurate and stable color. Sony's 3rd-generation BrightEra LCD panels and highly refined circuitry will deliver rich, accurate colors to your presentation every time. The dedicated cooling duct structure for the projector’s 3LCD panels is covered with an air filter to prevent dust from entering
  

Projection Lens: The Sony VPL-PHZ1 employs a projection lens with a 1.23:1 to 1.97:1 throw-ratio and 1.6x manual zoom that can project between a 40" to 300" image. In addition to manual zoom & focus, further installation flexibility is provided by Lens Shift, Keystone Correction, and Warping function.

• Zoom & Focus: Turn the zoom lever (1.6x) to adjust the size of the image, while turning focus ring to adjust the focus manually.
• Lens Shift: Lens Shift lets you raise, lower, or reposition the projected image without changing the angle relationship between the projector and the screen. It also reduces the need to physically move the projector horizontally or vertically to fit the image within the borders of the screen. This projector has a vertical lens shift of  +55/-35% and a horizontal lens shift of +/-15%.
• Keystone Correction: If the screen is trapezoidal, you perform horizontal & vertical keystone correction to make the image more rectangular. Vertical & horizontal keystone correction are adjustable from +/-30 degrees.
• Warping Function: You can correct image twist with the warp correction feature that allows an 8 point (4 corners and 4 sides) image adjustment for convex or concave projected surfaces.

High Energy Efficiency: Sony knows that energy consumption is a major operating cost as well as an environmental concern. That's why they designed the laser light source, cooling system and BrightEra LCD panel all to maximize energy efficiency. Sony even regulated the operating temperature to bring out the laser diode's highest emission efficiency. The result is a professional projector that offers a superb picture and excellent energy efficiency.

4K/60p Input Signal with WUXGA Resolution: The Sony VPL-PHZ51 supports up to a 4K/60p input signal and converts the 4K input signal to WUXGA (1920x1280) resolution through a built-in high performance image scaler. There's even support for devices (such a Blu-ray players) with content protection. Sony's Reality Creation, a unique picture enhancement feature, gives 4K/60p input signals and the projector's native WUXGA (1920x1280) projected images even greater crispness and depth.

Reality Creation: The VPL-PHZ51 laser projectors feature Sony's most sophisticated Reality Creation signal processing engine yet. Reality Creation is an advanced processing technology that dramatically enhances the clarity of projected pictures by comparing lower-resolution images with Sony's unique picture pattern database. Reality Creation can boost image resolution closer to "4K-like" while delivering crisper, clearer images and text.

• Pixel Matching: Sony's unique real-time signal processing technology that improves picture clarity, especially when you're using the projector with a lower-resolution image source. Individual frames are matched against our picture pattern database that's been trained over more than a decade to recognize thousands of distinctive shapes, textures, and patterns. Sophisticated pixel remapping then enhances individual areas of the low-resolution image in real time, ensuring accurately detailed pictures that take you even closer to reality.
• Sharpness & Depth: High-frequency image areas are sharpened more than low-to-middle frequency parts, giving an accentuated feeling of depth and realism in every scene.
• Tex Mode: A new Reality Text mode emphasizes characters and lines so your audience can see them more clearly. Words, numbers, and diagrams are crisper, sharper, and easier to read in documents, spreadsheets, graphs, and presentations.

Bright View Technology: Bright View is Sony’s unique processing technology that brightens images while maintaining rich color in bright or dark business and educational environments. In bright rooms, Bright View matches projected images to the environment, adjusting settings depending on room brightness. In dark rooms, Bright View ensures that images are displayed with proper color and tonal gradations.

• Optimized Brightness: The VPL-PHZ51 is one of the first professional projectors from Sony featuring a built-in ambient light sensor that continuously monitors brightness levels in the room. This new Ambiance feature optimizes picture settings depending on room brightness measured by the projector's integrated light sensor. Intelligent Settings fine-tunes the projector's laser output and cooling system performance, ensuring dependable performance in any environment where the projector is installed. Video Inputs: The Sony VPL-PHZ51 offers HDMI, Composite, and VGA connectivity for your computer, player, and other source devices. The Auto Input Select feature automatically selects an active signal input, so there's no need to change input each time a device is connected to the projector.

• HDMI: Two HDMI inputs can be utilized to connect your laptop or desktop computer, as well as a Blu-ray player or media stick. Both HDMI inputs support up to 4K/60Hz video.
• Composite Video: A composite RCA video input is provided for older legacy source devices that have a composite RCA video output. The composite RCA video connection supports up to 480i.
• VGA (D-Sub): The projector's VGA (D-Sub) input connects to the RGB output terminal on your laptop or desktop computer for video transmission. The VGA input supports up to 1080p.

HDBaseT Transmitter: The HDBaseT transmitter can be used when connecting the projector to a computer, video device, or network equipment. The HDBaseT transmitter connection consists of a RJ45 jack will connect via a CAT5e or higher Ethernet cable. The HDBaseT connection combines image, audio and control signals over single CAT5e or higher Ethernet cable (up to 328').

Dual USB-A Ports: The dual USB-A ports (5V/2A) can be used to supply power to connected external devices. USB-A ports can also be used to copy settings from one projector to another projector using a USB thumbdrive, greatly simplifying installation and set-up of multiple projectors.

Audio Section: The Sony VPL-PHZ51 features a built-in speaker, plus offers an analog audio input and output.

• Built-In Speaker: The projector is equipped with a built-in 16 watt monaural speaker for audio playback.
• Analog Input: The stereo minijack (3.5mm) analog audio input can be used to input an audio signal for the projector's VGA (D-Sub) input or composite video input.
• Analog Output: The stereo minijack (3.5mm) analog audio output can be used to output an audio signal from a connected projector source to an external speaker system.

Remote Control: The Sony VPL-PHZ51 can be controlled from the included IR remote, via a web browser, or using RS-232 protocol.

• IR Remote: The included IR (infrared) remote control provides wireless operation of the Sony VPL-PHZ51 projector.
• IP Control: The Ethernet LAN jack (RJ45) allows you to monitor and control the projector over a wired network connection from a web browser on your desktop or laptop computer, or even a tablet device.
• RS-232C Port: The RS-232C port allows for 3rd-party control from custom integrators.

Mounting & Installation Options: The Sony VPL-PHZ51 can be positioned in front of or behind the projection screen. It can be placed on a flat tabletop surface or ceiling mounted (mounting bracket sold separately). The projector has two adjustable front feet to angle the unit when projecting from a table. There are three 5mm threaded inserts that allow you to use a projector ceiling mount (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to mount the unit from your ceiling.

Hassle-Free Filter Care: Focus on great-looking images instead of time-consuming maintenance. The new dust filtration system makes changing filters a thing of the past for general use in classrooms and meeting rooms. For heavier use in dusty environments, there's a new clogging sensor to advise when filter cleaning is needed. 

Detachable AC Power Cord: The VPL-PHZ51 comes with a detachable 8' AC power cord that plugs into the back of the projector and into an AC power wall outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).
