About the Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance Lightstrip Plus

Easy on the eyes
Easy on the eyes
When I added a colorful LED strip behind my TV it greatly improved my nighttime viewing experience and lessened my eye fatigue. Plus, it's just fun to have that pop of color for movie nights. And this thin self-adhesive Hue Lightstrip isn't just a TV backlight — it's flexible and versatile enough to go almost anywhere. You can tuck it under cabinets in the kitchen or run it along hallway baseboards to add colorful ambiance lighting throughout your home.
If this 6.5-foot strip isn't exactly the right size, you can easily trim it down or pick up the optional extension strip (sold separately) to add length. The included power adapter can support up to 33 total feet.

No Bridge required
One of the only complaints I've heard about Philips Hue lights is that you have to have a separate Bridge to control them. Well — not anymore. This light strip connects to your mobile device using Bluetooth. You can then use the Hue mobile app to control up to ten lights in one room of your home.
Use your voice
You can also control this strip hands-free if you've got an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device. That means you can turn your light on or off, dim it, and recall your favorite presets just by asking.
Add wall control
Operating your lights with an app or your voice is fun, but you might find that some members of the household prefer a good old fashioned wall switch. If so, you can pick up a Hue dimmer to add a wall-controlled option to your Bluetooth-based system.
Expand your system with a Bridge to do more
If you want to do even more, you can add a Philips Hue Bridge (sold separately). Then, you can control up to 50 Hue devices — even when you're not at home. The Bridge also adds compatibility with other Hue accessories — like the Tap — and voice control via Apple HomeKit and Microsoft Cortana.
You can also set timers and create routines. For example, a “wake up” routine gradually increases the brightness in your bedroom to mimic the effect of sunrise. That sure beats the buzz of an alarm clock.
Hue Sync, a companion desktop app, even lets you synchronize your lights to the movies, music, and games you play on your computer.

Product Research
Features
Overview: The Philips Hue White and Color Ambiance LightStrip Plus V4 is an LED light strip that can add light to many places where traditional light fixtures cannot go. Using the Hue App, you can control the color and intensity of the LightStrip using your smart phone or tablet from up to 30 feet via Bluetooth. Pairing the LightStrip to the Hue Bridge, you can control up to 50 lights throughout your home from anywhere. The LightStrip Plus comes with a wireless control box, an 8' power cord, and a 24V power supply.
Light Strip: The 80" (6.6') Hue LightStrip Plus V4 is approximately 1/2" wide and 3/16" thick, and features bright variable color LEDs every 2" along its length. The LEDs can produce up to 16-million colors, selectable from the Philips Hue app. The lightstrip also provides bright functional white light up to 1600 lumens, and can output all shades of white, from warm white to cool daylight color temperatures. The LightStrip Plus is rated at 20W, and has an estimated lifetime of 25,000 hours and up to 50,000 switching cycles.
Installation: The LightStrip Plus V4 is extremely flexible, allowing you to install it in places where traditional lighting cannot go. You can add light under cabinets, in hallways and stairways, or add accents to architectural features in your home. It can be bent, shaped, and cut to the length you need. The LightStrip Plus features "scissor markings" every few inches to indicate where the strip can be cut to length. The strip has an adhesive backing to allow you to stick the strip where you want it.
Extending the Length: The LightStrip Plus V4 can be lengthened to up to a total of 32' by attaching additional lengths of the LightStrip V4 Extension (sold separately). The extensions attach via a proprietary 6-pin connector, and use the same power supply and control module as the base unit.
Philips Hue App: The Philips Hue app, when used with the Hue Bridge, gives you full home control of your Philips Hue lights. Within the full Hue Lighting System, you can set timers and schedules, control lights away from home, set wake-up and go-to-sleep routines, and sync the lights to your music, movies, and video games. Additional Hue products can be added to the system, up to a maximum of 50 bulbs and 12 Hue accessories that can be controlled by a single bridge. Bluetooth control has been incorporated into the Philips Hue app, allowing control of up to 10 Bluetooth-compatible Hue products from within the room. The app is available for Apple devices running iOS 14.0 or later, or for Android devices running Android 10 and up.
Bluetooth Control: The LightStrip Plus V4 is Bluetooth-compatible, allowing you to control the light from the room without the Hue Bridge. Up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled lights can be controlled from your smartphone or tablet from up to 30 feet away. You can turn the lights on or off, dim or brighten the bulb, and apply Light "recipes" for everyday tasks. You can even control them with your voice through the Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. Bluetooth control requires the Philips Hue app.
Zigbee Protocol: The Philips Hue LightStrip Plus V4 operates on the Zigbee Wireless Protocol, which uses the IEEE 802.15.4 personal-area network standard to communicate with the Hue Bridge. It has a long wireless range, which enables you to set up a system of up to 50 Hue-compatible bulbs and devices.
