Features
Digital Home Theater Amplifier: The McIntosh MI347 is a dedicated home theater amplifier that delivers an immersive cinematic experience in the comfort of your home. It uses highly sophisticated closed loop digital switching amplifiers that are paired with extremely robust power supplies that produce audio performance levels rarely heard in home theaters. With its highly efficient Class D amplifier, the MI347 does not require noisy cooling fans to maintain nominal operating temperature; it also features an abundance of cooling vents on the top and sides to further assist with heat dissipation.
Note: The MI347 can be used with any McIntosh home theater A/V Processor like the MX123, MX180, or MX200 (all sold separately).
7-Channels: In a home theater, the most important audio channels or speakers are the front left, front right, and center channel speaker. These are where a majority of the dialog and the loudest and most prominent special effects resonate from. As such, the MI347 will deliver 250 Watts at 8 Ohms or 300 Watts at 4 Ohms (FTC power output rating) to each of these three speakers. The MI347's other four channels are meant to drive the still important, but less power-hungry surround sound speakers or height speakers. To each of these four channels, the MI347 will deliver a healthy 125 Watts at 8 Ohms or 200 Watts at 4 Ohms (FTC power output rating).
Note: If you've got more than 7 audio channels in your home theater, such as with Dolby Atmos or DTS:X, you can add the McIntosh MI254 4-Channel Digital Amplifier or MI128 8-Channel Digital Amplifier (both sold separately) to deliver McIntosh power to all your home theater speakers.
Exclusive McIntosh Power Assurance System: The McIntosh MI347 employs a collection of technologies that enhance performance and reliability while protecting the amplifier and loudspeakers.
- Power Guard Circuit: Power Guard is a waveform comparison circuit that continuously monitors both input and output signals. Power Guard dynamically adjusts the input level to avoid clipping while preventing harsh sounding distortion. The amp's front-panel LED indicator will flash when Power Guard is activated.
- Sentry Monitor Technology: McIntosh Sentry Monitor power output stage protection circuits ensure the MI347 will have a long and trouble-free operating life. Sentry Monitor is a fuse-less short-circuit protection circuit that disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating level; resets automatically.
Balanced & Unbalanced Inputs: The McIntosh MI347 employs both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs for each channel. Balanced connections guard against induced noise and allow long cable runs without compromising sound quality.
Binding Post Speaker Output Terminals: McIntosh Patented gold-plated, binding-post speaker terminals deliver high current output. There 5-way design accepts large diameter wire (up to 10AWG), banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, and spade lugs.
Front-Panel LED Indicators: On the front panel of the McIntosh MI347 digital home theater amplifier are multi-color LED indicators that display the status of each channel.
Rack-Mountable: With its rack-friendly 3U height, the McIntosh MI347 can easily be installed in your A/V rack via the included rack mounting brackets. The mounting brackets are removable for non-rack installations, so it can simply placed on a tabletop or shelf.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The included detachable AC power cord (IEC 3-prong) plugs into the back of the digital home theater amplifier and into an AC power wall outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).
Auto Power On/Off: Eco-friendly on/off signal sensing turns the home theater amplifier off if no input signal has been detected for approximately 30 minutes, as well as automatically turns the MI347 on when it senses an audio signal from your connected home theater processor.

This is one sweet amplifier. Perfect for home theater and for Vinyl listening. Easy set up too! Replaced a Marantz 7-channel amp that had a failure that fried my center channel speaker. It was more than 10 years old but still annoying.
