A Vendor's Guide to Crutchfield
Tobacco, Cultural Diversity, and Harrassment Policies
Tobacco Use Policies
Crutchfield is a tobacco-free workplace. All tobacco use, and related refuse, will be prohibited on Crutchfield property and grounds.
This policy will apply at all times whether a facility is "open for business" or not. Crutchfield employees, customers, vendors, clients, consultants, contractors, and all other visitors may not smoke or use tobacco on Crutchfield properties and grounds. These properties and grounds include all Crutchfield owned and/or leased locations/premises; all internal and external areas, and parking lots; all entrances and exits; and all company owned and/or leased vehicles.
Additionally, the policy will be in place at all company-sponsored events-both on our premises and at external locations. Using tobacco in a personal vehicle while on Crutchfield property is also prohibited.
Cultural Diversity
Crutchfield employs a diverse workforce, attracts a diverse customer base, and places a high value on treating all people with dignity and respect. We foster an environment free from discrimination based on race, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, marital and/or family status, age, handicap or disability, or military status.
We strongly prohibit any behavior that is biased against any these groups of people. The following recommendations may serve as a guide to help incorporate these values into your interactions with customers, coworkers, and business partners.
Be aware of words, images, and situations that suggest that all or most members of a specific group are the same, and avoid behavior that reinforces stereotypes of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, marital and/or family status, age, handicap or disability, or military status, i.e., mimicking accents or mannerisms of people from different backgrounds, lifestyles, or nationalities.
Avoid sexist language that stereotypes men and women - for example, a doctor as male and a secretary as female.
Include all people in general references by substituting asexual words and phrases for "male" words (i.e., workforce or staffing for manpower).
We appreciate your sensitivity and hope that you direct any questions about the spirit or practice of Crutchfield's Diversity Statement to our Employee Services Department.
Harassment
In support of Equal Opportunity and Nondiscrimination policies, Crutchfield prohibits the following:
- Quid Pro Quo (This for That) Harassment
When submission to or rejection of sexual advances is used as a basis for employment decisions such as:
- Hiring or dismissing
- Pay Increases
- Performance Appraisals
- Promotions
- Hostile Environment Harassment
Physical, verbal, or visual conduct of a sexual or otherwise offensive nature that has the purpose or effect of unreasonably creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.
The policy prohibits behavior that an employee does not welcome and finds personally offensive.
Examples of prohibited behavior include:
- sexual flirtations, advances, or propositions;
- verbal, written, or visual abuse of a sexual nature;
- sexually related comments, jokes, or graphics;
- degrading comments about an employee's appearance;
- the display of sexually suggestive objects or pictures, including any that may be obtained through the Internet or computer software programs;
- or any uninvited physical contact or touching.
The policy does not prohibit occasional compliments of a socially acceptable nature or welcome social relationships. However, to the extent that it forbids certain types of unacceptable conduct, the policy applies equally to interactions involving members of the same sex and interactions involving members of the opposite sex.
