Better than Kappa Perfects, WAY more bass.

Karl from LAPORTE, IN on 7/4/2023

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Whoa. I liked my Infinity Kappa Perfect 600's. Like a lot. They were nice, everything was solid and well built. Then, they were discontinued, and I needed replacements. Crutchfield sent me these, and I was skeptical. The basket is plastic, they don't come with grills, the crossovers are hard wired and can't be rewired, the tweets are smaller, and so on. but, the sound. Holy cow, the sound coming out of these are just as clear as the perfects, but MUCH easier to get bass from them. Now, when we say bass what we really mean is midbass, referring to door speakers, but I am telling you if you treat your doors and seal them correctly, and you have them correctly installed and tuned, these speakers can bump ANY music with or without a sub. I had to work VERY hard to get bass out of my perfects, but I didn't mind because the clarity was there and I just ran a sub. Well, I don't know if the crossovers were badly designed in the perfects or what, but these 603cf door speakers just OOZE punch and thump. Also, there are things that make them better in an ergonomics sense. The wire terminals make more sense, you can just slap leads and disconnects on the crossovers and never touch the wiring again not to mention they fit WAY better, the door speakers are more shallow so they don't need to be spaced, etc. even the plastic basket makes sense because it won't soak up heat in the summer. Hands down ALL of my music sounds better through these than the Perfects.

Pros: The sound is amazing in every way, even compared to my studio monitors. The plastic basket rejects heat and is easier to mount. The whole system is easier to wire.

Cons: No grills. In my opinion EVERY speaker system should come with grills. Factory grills are just lame.

I will give these 5 stars at first I wasn't interested in infinity wanted to go Polk or something but my vehicle has infinity logos so I figured why not..at first they felt strong and stuff..but then I learned there is a break in period. Then they start to open up and you start noticing things that u didn't at beginning takes a while couple months I would say. Overall good speakers still trying them out...I have them on an infinity 5 channel I got on Crutchfield wiring from Crutchfield..Sony 5500...and a cerwin vega 10 ported I might go to kappa 10...and soundskins deadening all around.

Pros: clean sound

Cons: a little harsh at first hoping i can tune them down calm down a little after a while welle see.

Replacing 10 year old Kappa 60.9 model. Extremely happy!

Stephen from Houston, TX on 1/15/2023

Verified employee review (What's this?)

The 603CF is a great sounding component speaker set. There is also an option to convert them from 2 way to 3 way with the 303s mid speaker upgrade. I went with that option as well for the front doors. Vocals sound amazing. Clarity is point on with no distortion. I have another set of 603CF on back doors as well. Can't go wrong with Infinity Kappa series. I am extremely pleased with these!

Pros: Smaller slim crossover module is a huge plus compared to the older style that was more bulky.

Cons: Took a while for me to install but I'm picky with neatness and very happy with the product. Had to buy a 1 5/8" hole saw blade for the tweeters - I did relocate them from normal on top of dash location to the door panel and used the dash location for the 303s mid upgrade. No big deal and love the new configuration.

I was looking for upgraded speakers after my wife got a new car with bose premium sounds and I couldn't take my factory sound any more. I paired these up to Alpine amp sending 55 watts and they sound amazing. Very loud and very clear. Surprisingly good kick and bass response too. If you aren't a bass head you might not need a sub. A whole level above the bose speakers in quality. Very happy with my purchase.

Pros: One thing that stands out is the clarity of the percussion and electronic sounds over the factory speakers. Great for hearing live recorded drums in rock and electronic sounds in all edm/pop anything

Cons: None so far

I want to make clear that this review is an indictment of Crutchfield and NOT Infinty. I purchased these speakers with the scratch and dent option and as soon as they were installed, there was a loud popping noise in one of the woofers anytime bass was present. I even talked to one of the Crutchfield techs before purchasing, and he assured me that all the scratch and dent speakers are tested and work perfectly. The speakers sound great other than that popping noise, but as of right now I have zero bass in my car due to me having to switch it off. Don't make the same mistake I did. Pay a little extra for new speakers, because clearly Crutchfield doesn't do their due diligence and actually test the speakers before sending them out.

Pros: Good clarity

Cons: Defective speaker

Great door speakers

Bought these to replace a set of Hertz Dieci 5.25s, and was not disappointed. The glass fiber diaphragms have a brighter, crisper tone than pressed paper, and they have enough kick to vibrate the doors. For fellow Miata owners, these WILL fit in the doors of a 2009 NC, but it requires careful placement, and you'll have to drill your own holes.

Pros: Fantastic sound, great kick and excellent midbass.

Cons: A bit on the pricy side. You definitely pay for the extra quality.

I love these speakers. I initially installed the Infinity Reference, but wanted more bass, so I exchanged them for the Kappas. The sound quality is fabulous and the system can easily handle my Kenwood x901 5 channel amp and 12 in sub at 40 without distortion. I am a bass fanatic, so with all of those systems, I am quite satisfied.

Pros: Worth the money. Sound quality is excellent.

Cons: Instruction manual is not easy to read.

I bought these for the front doors of my 2022 Honda CR-V. This is my daily commuter so I will be spending a lot of time in it, and wanted good sound. The factory stereo is really nice. I use Android auto to listen to my music on Qobuz, the hi-res music files that are studio quality. The factory speakers sounded pretty good, but not as good as I wanted. I had the treble turned all the way up, and the bass was just a couple click off of center, otherwise it would distort. After installing these speakers, wow, what a difference! I had to turn the treble down, and can turn the bass all the way up, and I can crank it with no distortion. It is amazingly clear! I just ordered a second set for the rear doors. These are the speakers you want if you are an audiophile like me!

Pros: Superior clarity

Fits 2017 MKZ 11-speaker w minor modification

David from MA on 6/27/2022

2017 Lincoln MKZ

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

Just wanted to review that these do in fact fit a 2017 Lincoln MKZ when you use the complementary brackets. The tweeters also fit with a very minor modification to one of the supplied mounting rings; I drilled three quarter inch holes at precise locations on the OD to accept the three factory "finger" style clamps. No glue required and easy to put the old stuff back in if you ever need to. The Ford Fusion for this time frame is probably done the same. Crossovers fit under the map pocket on the front doors, and vertically beside the woofer in the rear doors. The rest of the system is still 100% factory so the factory signal processing is still there, and its not ideal power for these, but they still sound good. I know these will shine once I get them amplified with a dsp amp and new speaker wire run. I had to turn the bass down compared to stock drivers, and I'm sure I may have to reduce it further as the speakers break-in.

Pros: Power handling, fit, sound quality... all the usual findings in the Kappa line.

Cons: Running new speaker wire that can handle the power rating of these can be tricky in newer cars that have Molex connectors consuming the whole rubber door feed-through boot. If you have no plans to amplify, the Reference speakers are better suited and will save some cost. My harnesses don't have enough length to pull them out and drill a vacant spot. The door may have to be removed at which point, I'll just drill and add a dedicated wire boot rather than risk damage to the Molex connector.

2006 Nissan Altima

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace original front door Bose speakers in my 2006 Nissan Altima SE-R. The Bose speakers only just recently sounded like they were blown, but upon inspection discovered they were just worn out. I thought the Bose sounded excellent all the years that they worked for original equipment and that the sound couldn't get much better, but wow! These Infinity Kappa speakers are amazing! I honestly cannot believe the difference! I didn't do anything other than switch them out. No crossover, no amplifier, just wired them up with the original wiring to the original head unit, minus the harnesses as the set that Crutchfield sent me were not the right ones to adapt, and the new speakers had a round hole connection best suited for bare wire with a screw that tightens down and pinches the wire, so I just cut off the original clip connector, striped about 3/4"of wire, doubled over the striped ends, twisted them, and then inserted them into the new speakers, and tightened down the screws. It might be beneficial to tin the bare wire ends first, but I did not. Important to note the Infinity Kappa speakers I bought are 3 ohm and the Bose speakers were 2 ohm. The slight impedance difference does mean I had to increase the volume slightly to the new speakers to match the rest of the speakers that I did not replace simply by adjusting the front to rear bias on the head unit.

Pros: Sound quality!!! Well made! Etc.

Cons: Not a direct fit up replacement! Not exactly plug and play. Needed special mounting brackets for fitting my altima, but worth it!

Waiting To See If These Are Better Than Factory

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee review (What's this?)

The jury is out whether this sounds better than the factory speakers that came with my '07 Toyota Tacoma. I had read other reviews saying how much better these are than the factory speakers, so when I powered it up I wasn't "blown away" like others were. The magnet structure is much more robust than the factory speakers. The tweets are good, but not overly bright. I'm all about bass around the 30 - 50 Hz range. These I need to really attenuate 250 Hz to eliminate the boominess. I need o break these in some before I really decide whether these are better or not.

Pros: They are a bit more sensitive than the factory speakers. Bass is smooth. Tweeters are clean and clear.

Cons: Seems to have a unusual peak around 250 Hz. I didn't have that problem with the factory woofer.

For this 1996 Formula Firebird build I've gone with these for the front door panels. Kicker sub woofers *674 in the rear seat panels and a set of the Infinity 300m on the side panels. After listening to these, I've decide to not go with the "stock" look on my 2nd build and run 2 sets of these, an 8in sub woofer and along with a pair of 300s.

Verified employee review (What's this?)

Installed these in my 2022 Santa Fe to replace the stock speakers which were pretty one-dimensional. I needed to get help to wire in the crossovers because neither Crutchfield or the internet had an exact map of the wiring for where the tweeter lines run down, and new cars have about 1000 wires with black and red lines in each cluster. Putting in the woofers was easy as pie, though, and holy smokes these sound good. I never want to get out my car now it sounds so good. Seriously. Super rich, deep, feel it in your soul kind of sound. Sounds amazing across genres- from classical to rap to pop to the guitar greats. And I am just using the factory stereo, no amp yet (maybe after a few more paychecks). I have used some of the top of class speakers that are more economically priced in other cars, and those were great, they really were. But putting this sort of quality in, well, if you can spring for it, putting these Kappas in really made it feel worthwhile to pull the panels off. Light years different, feels like they will last for years. No regrets on my part. And Crutchfield is awesome! So helpful through the whole process - definitely not their fault that the wiring schemes aren't out yet for this new car, and not their fault that I was out of my depth on digging into the wiring.

Great upgrade from the Sony "premium" sound package in our 2016 Taurus SHO. Had it narrowed down to these and the Morel's and I think we made the right choice. Very clear, hearing sounds we never heard with the old speakers. Actually had to turn down the treble control on the radio because it was soo bright. I did not use the included crossovers as the factory amps already separate the twitter and woofer signals. Mounted the tweetters in the factory location in the A pillar with on of the supplied brackets and bit of hot glue.field did not list these as fitting the Taurus but with the Scosche mounting brackets and bit of dremel tool work on the brackets they worked just fine. These were on sale was the deciding factor over the recommended 5x7. Can't wait for them to fully break in. First time using Infinity, have Kenwood Excelon in my Mustang and previous Taurus and my change those out for the Infinity's.
