Great Product

This is a really great solution for those who have audio or video components concealed in a cabinet. I was using a Harmony remote with a hub that operated on an RF frequency, and Harmony discontinued the product. So when that remote died, I had to switch to my previous Harmony remote, which uses IR. But my components are in a cabinet with a wood door, which is why I previously had to use an RF remote. But this product solves the problem by sending the IR signals from an IR remote to emitters that in turn enabling me to control all my components behind the cabinet doors. And it's great that it comes with so many emitters. The build quality also seems really solid. The only issue is that the two-sided tape on the back of the emitters doesn't always allow the emitter to stick firmly to whatever surface you need to attach the emitter to (this is common with these types of products) but there's various ways to work around this and this is a very minor issue. Overall, I think it's an excellent product. (And the fact that Crutchfield technical support is always available is also a plus.)

It worked for me for my Rotel CD Changer that is 20 yeras old. Instead of connecting IR Emitter, you can simply run 3.5 mm cable to the back of your device if you have a port in the back called IR IN.

Old system controls with this new technology

Surprised it works very well. I had remotely located my system and the only way it worked is with a nearby door propped open. Not any more! It works well on my older Yamaha tuner and DVD/CD player.

Stopped working after 18 months

Died after 18 months. Worked great in the first 18 months. Super easy to install & set up. Worked flawlessly to control my AV receiver (Yamaha RX-A6A) and disc player (Panasonic DP-UB820). Now all of a sudden with no triggering event (e.g. thunderstorm) it works very sporadically and when it does work it goes crazy. Now I have to press a button on a remote maybe 5-20 times to get any type of action completed. Even when it completes, it's crazy. Pressing the volume up or down makes it (eventually) max out or minimize the volume all in the space of two seconds. It's not like it's catching up to my presses, just pressing the volume up once can suddenly send the volume skyrocketing to the max. Pressing a menu or setup button works similarly maybe the first time or maybe the 15th time, and even then it starts endlessly scrolling in whatever direction I pressed. Trying to navigate to do anything is impossible. I don't know what happened, but this thing is toast. At least I'm glad I figured out it's this thing and not my much more expensive receiver! It's a shame because this is pretty expensive for what it is and I can get similarly functionality from something that costs half as much. I was hoping that you pay more and get more (in terms of quality) but am sad to see that's not the case here. At least if the knock-off brand dies after 18 months I'll have paid half the price.

After receiving Justin's feedback, we looked up his order and found that his IR-Hub is still under warranty. While his order is beyond Crutchfield's 60-day return policy, he can contact Vanguard Dynamics at 866-834-6321 for further information about the 5-year warranty on this kit.

Great product

This repeater is a gem! Works just like it should. My stereo equipment is behind a wooden cabinet door and the receiver eye is small and inconspicuous mounted outside the cabinet that transmits the signal to your equipment. Couldn't be happier!

Exactly as advertised.

I have a separate av center from the tv room. We used a standard 4 wire cable from the tv to the av center. About 150 feet going through the ceiling to the av center at the base of the stairs. Very easy to hook up and works perfectly. The instructions are well done describing the wiring. I only need 2 emitters, but always good to have extra. One does not notice the node on the tv and the wires are easy to hide. Product is exactly what i needed.

IR hub

The Technical team helping me with this item has been way beyond helpful but for some reason, even after trying a second unit, we could not get it to work with my Yamaha Receiver RX-A750 and Sony Bravia TV. The Technicians are sending me a Rusound to try. Crutchfield Tech support is super. So they are five STARS.
