The Samsung TV lineup for 2024

ajor TV manufacturers like Samsung update their product lines every year. Sometimes the new TVs offer major technological improvements, while other years the enhancements are subtle.

Samsung offers a huge variety of TVs, so it can seem overwhelming at first glance. But the upside is that they have a TV for pretty much everyone, and we can help you find the best fit for you.

All of the 2024 Samsung TVs we carry are 4K TVs with support for HDR. They're also all "smart" TVs, with pre-installed apps for streaming services and compatibility with voice assistants.

Each series will offer additional features beyond this, often with incremental improvements within a given line. This can include more powerful processing, support for more advanced HDR formats, and more. Note: sometimes the smallest and largest TVs in a series will have slightly different specs.

Samsung LED TVs

LED TVs require several layers to create the picture you see. One of the most important is the backlight, which is made up of small, bright LEDs or light-emitting diodes. This LED backlight shines through a liquid crystal layer, and each liquid crystal pixel acts like a shutter, either blocking the light or allowing it to pass through. The type and sophistication of the backlight contributes to overall picture quality, especially how well the TV can display dark areas of the picture.

Crystal UHD TVs

Samsung’s budget-friendly Crystal UHD TVs use the most basic LED backlighting. These entry-level models come in a wide range of sizes.

Samsung QLED TVs

Samsung’s QLEDs use LED backlighting enhanced by color-boosting quantum dots. These quantum dots are a special film layer of tiny, light-reactive particles that help deliver brilliant color at any brightness level.

Samsung Neo QLED TVs

Samsung's Neo QLED TVs feature a more advanced form of LED backlighting called "Mini LED." This technology uses thousands of very small LEDs controlled with incredible precision for greater detail and contrast than a standard LED TV can achieve.

Samsung OLED TVs

OLED stands for “organic light-emitting diode.” Unlike the transmissive liquid crystal pixels in an LED TV, an OLED’s pixels are emissive. That means they don’t need a separate light source, like the backlight in an LED TV. It also means that when an OLED pixel is not activated, it emits no light at all. This creates a contrast-rich picture with deep, inky blacks.

The S95D Series is Samsung’s best and brightest OLED for 2024. It delivers incredible picture quality, but when I saw it in person, I was most impressed by the screen’s almost total lack of reflection. This is not the sort of TV that needs to be enjoyed in the dark (though it will look great there, too).
