It also works with the family of iDatalink Maestro modules for steering wheel controls.

Kenwood DNR1008RVS — A big screen and customized guidance for bigger vehicles
What you need to know: Kenwood's DNR1008RVS navigation receiver offers a 10.1" floating display like the DNR1007XR, but it is programmed for use in tractor trailers and RVs where a big screen can be particularly useful. It goes a bit lighter on the audio extras, but makes up for it with a bright, colorful touchscreen with a 170º viewing angle. This radio has a rear USB input, an aux input, an SD card slot, and three camera inputs (one is dedicated for optional Kenwood dash cameras).
Navigation features: This receiver's built-in Garmin guidance boasts handy 3D Terrain View to show off landscape contours on the big-screen display. You can enter your RV or truck parameters, such as vehicle weight, length, and width. The software remembers these numbers to plot the best routes for your journey — no more worrying about low bridge clearances. You can even search for specific destinations for your large vehicle, such as truck stops and RV parks.
Important note: This receiver disables the mapping features found within CarPlay and Android Auto, since those particular platforms don't take vehicle size into account. If you're counting on using CarPlay or Android Auto for mapping instead of the Kenwood's built-in guidance, this might not be the receiver for you.
Phone integration features: The DNR1008RVS boasts wired and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, plus wired screen mirroring for iPhone and Android via HDMI (adapters sold separately). It also offers wireless screen mirroring for select Android phones.
Audio features: Kenwood offers a 13-band EQ, plus high- and low-pass filters and a 3-way crossover. Three sets of 4-volt preamp outputs are nothing to sneeze at, and it'll play hi-res FLAC and WAV files, too.

With the right GPS system, getting there can be half the fun
If you're ready to make the move to better maps, sound, and phone integration, there are a few things to keep in mind when shopping for a navigation stereo:
-
How much do you want to spend? An in-dash navigator that seems like a great value is probably limited in key phone integration features and sonic tweaks. If you don't need to access your favorite apps while driving and are generally not too picky about sound quality, a more expensive model might be overkill.
-
How long do you plan to use it for guidance? Some manufacturers let you update your receiver's maps for free or for a fee. However, if you can't update your maps, your receiver might not be terribly helpful for directions in a few years.
-
What fits your car? You'll need to pick a navigator that fits the dash of your car, which is generally not a problem for most double-DIN dash openings. For some newer vehicles, replacing the factory receiver might be impossible because of climate controls or other features which will be lost. There are a handful of options for single-DIN (2" tall) openings, typically with floating displays. Receivers without a disc player are especially easy to fit. Use our Outfit My Car tool to refine your choices.

I have read on multiple site reviews that the Pioneer AVIC-8500NEX doesn't sync wirelessly to Samsung phones, only wired in. Is this accurate for this product.

There were indeed some issues with compatibility with Samsung phones when the stereo (which is now a discontinued model) was originally released, but those were rectified in October of 2019 with an Android Auto update. Any reviews you are seeing with those issues were likely made before then.

Do any of these radios link to the GPS to provide a list of FM stations that are within range of the car's current location? And, can they be displayed on the moving map so I can select one that is in the direction I am traveling? That would be very useful for driving in the mountains.
