A Vendor's Guide to Crutchfield
Content Expectations
Our advisors are all technically adept, but being in a contact center environment they typically have few opportunities for hands-on time with products. For this reason, product demonstrations are essential in providing our team the "real world" experience necessary to discuss the product with customers. Trainings that showcase a sufficient amount of demos are far more impactful and effective than those focusing too heavily on only product specs; tell us why your product is different and display what it's capable of! Give our team something more than just what can be found on a spec sheet.
- We constantly ask our Sales Advisors for feedback on training sessions. Here are some sample comments from our highest-rated training sessions:
- "The reasons I liked the training was that it was totally focused around demos and the trainer seemed genuinely enthusiastic about the product he was representing."
- "...over half the training session was set aside for the demos and that is what we need."
- "Excellent training. On point and let the product speak for itself."
- "Great all around. Minimal amount of lecture, but what was said is useful. Great demos, great demo time."
- Demonstrations should compose more than 50% of your presentation. These demonstrations should be fully operational where the product is powered on and performing as it would for a customer under various conditions. In other words, if your product produces or enhances audio, we need to hear it. If your product produces or enhances video, we need to see it.
- We prefer presentations delivered by people who display an energy, enthusiasm, and passion for the products equal to, or greater than, our own.
- Advisors will make up the bulk of your attendees. They are highly trained on basic electronics and the various technologies represented by the products we sell. We invite you to sit with our staff prior to your training event as they communicate with our customers through phone, email, and chat conversations. This will help you understand their knowledge level and the type of customer interactions they have.
- Our staff is tied to a rather strict schedule. It is very important that the sessions start and stop on time. As a general rule, please be prepared to offer training sessions between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at both of our contact centers.
- 10-minute sessions generally start by 11:00 a.m. and continue through 5:30 p.m. with a break from 2 p.m. till 3 p.m.
- 20-minute sessions typically have three morning sessions and three afternoon sessions between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sessions with less than 50 minutes will have less predictable start times. The first session usually begins at 8:35 a.m. and the last session generally concludes by 5:25 p.m.
- 50-minute sessions also generally have three morning sessions and three afternoon sessions. These sessions typically start at 5 minutes past the hour and end 5 minutes before the following hour (e.g. 8:05 a.m. till 8:55 a.m.). The first session usually starts at 8:05 a.m. and the last session usually ends at 5:55 p.m.
Actions Speak Louder: Be sure to structure
your presentation around demonstrations
Before The Training
Prepare The Outline
Vendor trainers are required to submit an outline of the presentation at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled training.
Ship Your Materials
- Ship any demonstration equipment well in advance of your scheduled training date; we want ample time to confirm that all of your shipments arrived intact as well as account for any potential carrier delays.Click here to see more shipping information.
- Literature can be made available to attendees via our intranet if you can send us electronic versions or links to the documents.
- Retail store locations may prefer hardcopies of the literature. Please check with them before mailing though.

Shipping Your Equipment Back – After the Training is Completed
You will be responsible for packing and labeling your shipments. And you will need to ensure that a pickup is scheduled with the carrier of your choice for anything that needs to be shipped out of our facility. Generally, a normal UPS Ground shipment won't require a scheduled pickup, but other types of shipments often will.
PowerPoint Presentation Tips
- Keep the slide count under 30
- Avoid any one slide having more than 4 bullet points
- Limit text on the slides — we'd much rather hear what you have to say than read it
Food and Prizes
We love prize drawings and free lunches but we don't expect them. We understand that you will want to limit drawings to training
attendees generally. However, if a prize is $500 or more in retail value we prefer to perform a company-wide drawing.
